Research is the intellectual enquiry into something original, new or critical, and will be construed as a contribution to the body of knowledge, whereas researcher seeks the truth without having a judgment of his or her own.
Researcher is also expected to collect whatever is relevant, read, swift, compare, analyze and understand without being subrogated to any external pressures or biases, ‘taking side or being neutral.' Researcher also needs to be ready to change his or her mind if necessity arises even though they have invested considerable time and effort.
Therefore, postgraduate research forms an important and expanding part of Grafton academic life making it the most potentially growing area in our organisation.
The size and diversity of the research student community will be an important element in making Grafton a vibrant and highly productive research centre.
This will give students the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of a discipline and become familiar with the latest research techniques and methodologies.
So. Research and intellectual inquiry within any Grafton has three main functions;
Firstly; it contributes to the general development of intellectual, cultural life and inquiry which academes have responsibility in fostering.
Secondly it feeds into the development of teaching materials both for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Thirdly it adds to the prosperity of the economy and the welfare of the nation as a whole
